ROOM Art Space & Café - Garden City, 10 Etehaad Al Mohamin, Qasr El Nil, Cairo

Maqamat Trio is a trio that brings you music from the classical or traditional Arabic and Ottoman music repertoire. A diverse repertoire that contains many beautiful instrumental compositions such as the the Dulab, Maqtu‘a, Muqaddima, Tahmila, Darij, Sama‘i, Longa and Bashraf. Through this rich musical heritage, the musicians and their instruments can really shine, and when all the right elements are there, the music transcends the listeners to a state of musical Nirvana, known to many as Saltana. The word ‘Maqamat’ (plural of Maqam) is in reference to the rich Arabic Maqam modal system from which the traditional music of Egypt, Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and the Arab world is derived.

Ali Omar El-Farouk INVITES Djaïma

 — (EET, UTC+02) — (EET, UTC+02)

ROOM Art Space & Café - Garden City, 10 Etehaad Al Mohamin, Qasr El Nil, Cairo

In the third edition of his ‘INVITE’ series, Ali Omar El-Farouk invites French-Bulgarian singer/violinist Djaïma to perform together an exciting selection of French and jazz tunes. Jazz music has been popular in France since the 1920s, and over the decades the influence of jazz music with its rich improvisational language has had a strong impact on French music, leading to the development of what is known today as French-Jazz. With a repertoire that is partly instrumental and partly with French singing, this duo explores this ever-interesting meeting of two well-loved musical traditions.

🎵🎶 A performance not to be missed! 🎤🎻🎸

Djaïma: Voice, Violin Ali Omar El-Farouk: Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar

DJAÏMA https://www.facebook.com/djaimaofficiel DJAÏMA is a French Bulgarian artist whose music is sometimes sensitive, sometimes rock or jazz. DJAÏMA, with her voice and her violin, mixes Slavic, gypsy and Bulgarian cultures in particular, and passes it through the sieve of her flamboyant and iconoclastic personality. We call her Janis Joplin of the Danube or Yma Sumac of the East, so much this artist explodes with inventiveness. Through her four albums of original compositions (“Romano Ilô”, “Tu Es Là”, “Orenda” and “Baiser Salé”), she has succeeded in creating a poetic and festive universe. A voice, an artist who carries and transports souls to the depths of the most imaginary countries, those who are in us...

Maqamat Trio is a new trio that brings you music from the classical or traditional Arabic and Ottoman music repertoire.

Ali Omar El-Farouk’s first ever performance at ROOM Art Space is with an exciting new trio that has been formed as a result of his passion for different genres of world music such as oriental, classical, flamenco, and tango. Ali is joined by the wonderful musicians Hazem Abd El-Nasser and Hany Bedair. Together, this trio will take you on a beautiful journey that will leave you feeling joyful, excited, relaxed, dreaming, and wanting more!

Retour ... Aux Sources Du Flamenco

 —  —

Online Event, TD stage, Montreal

Dusk in Andalusia, on a public square ringed by orange trees. As if bewitched, she snaps her heels against the ground, imparting a loud thud. Her hands turn to the sky as if she were awaiting a sign, and she continues to repeat this gesture untiringly. This is the image that takes root in people’s minds when Rosanne Dion succumbs to flamenco, a Gypsy dance.

Dedicated to the mother of singer El Bancalero and inspired by the songs that rocked his childhood, this traditional flamenco show is the result of a collaboration between great Montreal artists: Rosanne Dion (dance), Fernando Gallego El Bancalero (voice), Caroline Planté (guitar), Miguel Medina (percussion), and guest artist Ali Omar El-Farouk (oud).

In a fiery atmosphere, we will be witnessing an energetic and colourful show, with great command of the arts of dance and music, with a prominent place for improvisation. A majestic gown, uncontrollable passion, vibrant palmas and castanets – together they will take possession of you during this show with its deep flamenco impulses!
