Ali Omar El-Farouk Quartet is a newly formed world-fusion ensemble bringing together some of Bangkok’s most accomplished musicians under the direction of Egyptian-Canadian oud player and composer Ali Omar El-Farouk. Blending the rich traditions of Arabic maqam with jazz and global improvisational styles, the quartet creates a sound that is both deeply rooted and strikingly contemporary.

The group’s repertoire features original compositions alongside fresh arrangements of Middle Eastern classics, reimagined through a modern jazz lens. With the oud at its center, an instrument rarely heard in Bangkok’s music scene, the ensemble explores a unique sonic landscape where East meets West in expressive and unexpected ways.

This performance marks the quartet’s debut appearance and is part of Ali Omar El-Farouk’s final concert series in Bangkok before his return to Egypt, making it a rare and special musical encounter.
